Marketing and Admission Assistant

Northwest Chinese Academy is a close-knit school community that fosters confident, critical thinkers through a 90/10 Mandarin Immersion model from Preschool through 5th Grade. We are located in Aloha, Oregon, and serve families in the greater Portland area.

Comfortable proactively learning new technology and suggesting technology-related solutions

Required Qualifications
• Minimum 1-2 year progressive experience in a Marketing, Sales, and or Communications role.
• Associates Degree in Marketing, Design, Journalism, Language Arts, or general Liberal Arts
• Communicate fluently in written and spoken English
• Comfortable interacting in a diverse community

Manages data associated with the marketing department including filing assistance, listservs, database of contacts, vendor lists, market research and survey data, photo Library, etc.
• Point of contact for general questions from prospective and current families
• Supports all public relations efforts to give the school visibility and attract prospective families
• Social Media promotion to highlight classroom activities, including photo and simple video creation
• Website updates / form updates
• Photograph and short video creation about school life and events

Admissions duties:
• Support Admissions through targeted communications/ prospective family interactions
• Assist the Principal to cultivate relationships with prospective families through school tours, events, and other communications.
• Admissions event preparation and support.
• Supports Admissions on communications for Re-enrollment and newly enrolled families
• Filing assistance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents
• Self-motivated, proactive, resourceful and creative problem solver
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, respond to parent and emails, and create communications that anticipate audience questions
• Exhibits best practices and ethics in communication
• Excellent knowledge of the English language including sentence structure, grammar and punctuation
• Comfort and experience with communicating with people from a variety of cultures and nationalities
• Preferred solid knowledge of graphic design software
• Skills using basic html, WordPress, or another web content management system
• General Understanding of various social media platforms
• Experienced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google Suite

Coordinates the class performances of school performances at Chinese New Year and end of year
• Assists with the creation and production of the digital newsletter

Main job responsibilities:

Marketing duties:
• Assist as needed in the marketing and communication strategies that meet the needs of the school by utilizing best practices in graphic design to create ads, brochures, posters, and newsletters

Must pass Criminal History Background Check within 90 days of hiring

Must have or obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hiring

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Marketing , Language Arts, Communications, or general Liberal Arts
• Communicate fluently in Mandarin Chinese
• Experience living and/or traveling overseas and studying other languages

After School Chinese Tutor

$24 an hour (2.5 hours per school instruction day)

Nonprofit Chinese Immersion School is seeking after school teacher with early childhood experience to join our team

Job Qualifications

  • Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese required
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a state licensed elementary educational program
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in a school or childcare program or college coursework in child development education and current First Aid/CPR certifications
  • Must be enrolled in the Oregon Office of Child Care Central Background Registry

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement Chinese Language Arts projects and lesson plans for children ages 8-12
  • Develop and maintain relationships with children, families, and school staff
  • Complete ongoing training as appropriate

Work Hours

Our program operates from September to June each year. Work hours run from 3:45pm to 6:15pmdaily. Opportunities may exist for additional work hours as a substitute teacher or for full-day programs during school breaks.

Chinese Immersion Preschool Teacher Aide 2018-19 School Year  

Nonprofit Chinese Immersion School is seeking assistant teacher with early childhood experience to join our team

Required Qualifications

Must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter systerm) of training at a college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child development, Elementary Education, or Special Education OR
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a state licensed childcare or comparable group program, working with preschool and school-age children OR
  • A one year state or nationally recognized credential related to preschool-age and school-aged care OR
  • Completion of 10 credits (semester system) or 15 credits (quarter system) or training at a college or university in Early Childhood education, Child Development, Elementary education, Special education AND at least six months of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program in care of Preschool-aged children OR
  • Documentation of attaining at least Step 8 (eight) in the Oregon Registry

Must be enrolled in or enroll in the Oregon Office of Child Care Central Background Registry

Required Qualifications

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist pre-Kindergarten classroom teacher with classroom activities and lesson plans
  • Develop and maintain relationships with children, families, and school staff
  • Collaborate with other teachers to maintain a welcoming and supportive team environment
  • Completed or have undergone childcare training including Food Handler’s Card, Child CPR/First Aid, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety.

Work Hours

Our program operates from September to June each year. Work hours run from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm daily.

Preferred Start Date: August 27, 2018
