Scaffolding Emergent Literacy

ALL students at the Northwest Chinese Academy receive daily English language arts instruction from our English teaching staff. Our program is designed to offer top-notch, literature based, English language arts instruction focusing on reading, writing, and oral communications. As a child’s English literacy develops so does the need for more sophisticated literacy skills. By scaffolding emerging English literacy, we increase the amount of time spent in English language arts instruction as our students move through our program.

Rich English Literacy Experiences

The Northwest Chinese Academy’s English Literacy program engages students in literacy learning through meaningful experiences.  Recognizing our children as active learners, our program provides experiences that engage our students’ curiosities about their world.  Our program develops students’ literacy skills through projects and themes with our teachers as facilitative guides through experiences that are challenging, fun and achievable.
