Northwest Chinese Academy's Enrichment Programs were developed to help our students immerse themselves in culture and the arts through a rich offering of activities.

The Northwest Chinese Academy's Art Troupe's portfolio couples ancient Chinese dance forms and Chinese songs, that have been handed down from one generation to the next within China, with modern dance and music forms that are a celebrated part of today's rich Chinese culture.

The Chinese abacus or the “suàn pán” is the first known calculator and was invented by the Chinese more than 600 years ago. The abacus is still used in many small towns in China. Schools in China as well as other parts of Asia still teach their students to use the abacus. NWCA brings this ancient art form that stimulates the mind to our students through this enrichment program offering.

Art Troupe (Dance Troupe & Choir) – Taught in Chinese

Abacus & Math Olympics – Taught in Chinese

Construction, Painting, Collage & Clay – Taught in English

Imaginations are the inspiration in this art class where students will create unique and varied imaginative art. Students work with a wide variety of arts and crafts media and materials to complete wonderful one-of-a-kind creations!

Hands-On Messy Science - Taught bilingually in Chinese & English

This class features mushy and messy scientific experiments and explorations for the child who loves to get their hands dirty! Students will brew recipes for all sorts of concoctions and mixtures, while learning about the properties of ingredients and what they can do when combined. Sure to delight, this class will bring out the “mad scientist” in you child.

Creative Movement & Musical Exploration – Taught in English

In this class students will then create theatrical and improvisational musical numbers based on the songs or music of study. Costumes, props and choreography will all come from the minds, hands and hearts of the students!

Games Galore! – Taught in Chinese
