Kathleen Earthrowl conducts a sensual affair with nature. This oil, from her

2008-9 Big Thicket series, depicts the beautifully wild lands of East Texas,

where the untamed air, water, vegetation, movement, light, and color inspire

her in their natural state. For Kathleen Earthrowl, painting is like choreographing

a dance of movement, stillness, variation, texture, and composition.

The artist Hong Zhong says he is fascinated by color and light, and the

manner in which light describes forms. His professional storyboard work at

Disney and other animation houses lend magic to the artist's story-telling,

draftsmanship, color, and composition. He says that his work is particularly

influenced by the early California Impressionist Movement.
