Speaker Biography

Gordon Hoffman is a managing director of Northwest Technology Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm in Portland Oregon. His formal education is electrical engineering, but he has spent most of his career in operating management of high-technology and software ventures. A strong advocate of education, he has served in various civic capacities for over 30 years to advance K-12 education, especially in the sciences, and at the university level. In Portland he has been an instructor, board member, and board chair of Saturday Academy; served seven years on the PSU Foundation board; advised numerous university technology commercialization organizations; and is a frequent MBA curriculum lecturer throughout the state. His associations around the Pacific Rim have encouraged his studies in Japanese and Mandarin. A world history buff, he is also a student of ancient Greek and, currently, French.
