Thank you for your interest in supporting the Northwest Chinese Academy, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Financial support of the school beyond tuition and fees is an essential component of NWCA’s finances and culture. NWCA relies on the generosity of friends, alumni, foundations, and corporations to help sustain and advance the mission of our school. Your tax-deductible donation will help ensure the best possible educational environment for our students and faculty.

Employer Matching Programs:
Many local employers offer matching gift programs for qualified non-profit organizations and will match charitable contributions made by their current and retired employees. Companies which have these programs can double or triple the impact of your gift to NWCA! If your employer has such a program, request an application from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will take care of the rest.

NWCA Annual Fund-raising Events:
NWCA holds several annual fund-raising activities and events which enable our entire community of students, parents, families, friends and community-at-large to have fun and participate in providing additional funds for school programs.
Hong Bao Gala (January/February): NWCA’s biggest annual fund-raiser, the Hong Bao Gala is named after the Mandarin term for “red envelopes” which are filled with money and traditionally presented during special occasions and the Chinese New Year. NWCA’s Hong Bao Gala is a celebratory evening event that gives attendees a rare opportunity to put on cocktail attire and enjoy a great Chinese New Year party. A truly social affair, the Gala evening includes a cocktail hour showcasing a variety of local beverages, an exquisite pan-Asian dinner, and entertainment, which sometimes comes in the form of friendly bidding wars during the silent and live auctions.
Read-A-Thon (April/May): The Read-A-Thon is a fun way to encourage our students to master their love of reading and help raise funds for NWCA’s English Language Arts Program. Students obtain donations from family, friends and neighbors based on the number of minutes or pages that they read during the month. Each student sets his or her own goal and quite often exceeds it!
Rummage Sale (early June): Better than eBay (because there’s no shipping or waiting involved), NWCA’s annual Rummage Sale engages the entire NWCA community. Held over an entire weekend and located at the school, NWCA’s Rummage Sale typically offers great bargains on gently used brand-name children’s clothes, toys, household goods, sporting goods, books for all ages, and much more. Proceeds from the Rummage Sale typically go to a special project that the school needs. In 2010, Rummage Sale funds provided for upgraded playground equipment for the school.
On behalf of those children whose lives you will touch through your contribution, thank you!
