Tina Jenq, Board President

Tina is a plastic surgeon and Principal of Oregon Cosmetic and Reconstructive Clinic PC. Tina has worked as a plastic surgeon in the Portland and regional community for 8 years.   In the last 4 years, she served as President and President-elect of the Providence Medical Executive Committee at Milwaukie Hospital. In this role, she aligned hospital and physician interests through regional initiatives to improve reliability of healthcare delivery and strengthen the organization’s culture.  She is conversationally fluent in Mandarin, and has two children that have both attended NWCA since preschool, with her eldest son just graduating from 5th grade.   She hopes to bring her experience in organizational structure and culture building to her position as board president.  

 

Amber Richardson, Treasurer

Amber is Director of Impact and Outcomes for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley. Her work focuses on resource development for the $5 million nonprofit organization and the strengthening of outcomes for participating elementary and middle school youth through program development of before- after- and summer school programming. Her experience in organizational and programmatic budget development and management will be directly applied to help maintain the financial health of NWCA. Amber and her family moved to Beaverton so that their daughter could attend preschool at NWCA. She is dedicated to engaging school community stakeholders to strengthen and grow NWCA.

 

Michael Jugo, Secretary

Michael is the Chief Executive Officer of Bowspirit Solutions, Inc., through which he works as an emergency physician and as a medical consultant in China. He has studied the Chinese language for close to twenty years and has lived and worked throughout China and Taiwan. Michael spearheaded the creation of California’s first Mandarin immersion public charter program in the San Francisco Bay area called Yuming Charter School and brings his first-hand knowledge in creating and sustaining a successful Mandarin immersion school. Michael brings his relevant experience to the NWCA Board.

 

Elvia Aguilar-Harmon, Immediate Past Board President

Eliva is attorney and owner of Elvia Aguilar, P.C. a bilingual English Spanish litigation law firm in Oregon. Elvia is responsible, as immediate past Board President for providing institutional knowledge and guiding the transition of new board members into their roles. She brings her experience in leadership, public speaking, compassion, and thorough investigation to the NWCA board. She is passionate about education, especially immersion education, and has a daughter is enrolled at NWCA.

 

Heather Singmaster, Voting Member

Heather is Associate Director, Center for Global Education at the Asia Society. Her work focuses on international benchmarking and integrating global competence into Career Technical Education (CTE) programs as well as state and national policy. Heather previously worked at the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

 

Chris Perkins, Advisory Member

Chris Perkins is presently lead software developer with Intel Inc. Before joining Intel he was the CEO and co-founder of As Is Software, Inc (DBA Media Lab, Inc). He led that small (8 employees) company for 17 years and has a lot of experience surmounting the challenges that small organizations encounter. Chris and his wife Jingzi have a daughter who has been at NWCA since Pre-K. Their family has lived in Argentina and visits China regularly to visit family.

 

Connie Peterson, Advisory Member

Connie Peterson is currently self-employed and an independent consultant of a direct sales company.  In the past, she had worked for Fortune 500 companies (Philip Morris and Intel) and a couple of software companies in Hong Kong, San Francisco Bay Area and Portland.  With her 10 years of solid experience in budget forecasting, financial modeling and accounting, she hopes to bring her expertise and skills to benefit NWCA and the community.  Connie also had volunteered as a Family Events Committee member at Multnomah Athletic Club. She continue to volunteer at her son’s school during the school year.

 

Mark Wilson, Advisory Member

Mark Wilson has been a Senior Debug Engineer for Intel Corporation over the last two decades. He is tasked with identifying the root causes of Intel’s most critical server and data center issues (i.e. making sure your kitten videos play on your favorite social media app or search engine). Mark, his wife LaTosha and two daughters JaKayla and Layla have been part of the NWCA family since 2011. Mark also runs two small businesses dealing with teaching and mentorship as well as leading an all-volunteer security ministry for a large Portland area church. As an adviser Mark will utilize his problem solving and process optimization skills to help guide NWCA, while also getting his hands dirty on the Building Committee.
